Artist Tim
Rogerson has brought together on canvas his transformative interpretation
of some of the most respected rock and roll musicians of our
time. This fantasy collaboration celebrates the influence that
previous generations have on the new.
The musicians in this art piece
were carefully considered by Mr. Rogerson. They are, from left
to right, BB King (3), Eric Clapton (4), John Mayer, Jimi Hendrix
(1), John Frusciante (18), Keith Richards (10), Carlos Santana
(15), and Chuck Berry (6). The number next to each artist indicates
his position in Rolling Stone Magazine’s Top 100 guitarists
of all time. This ranking was published in 2003 when Mayer was
too young in his career to make this list. However, in February
2007 John Mayer was identified, along with John Frusciante,
as one of the “New Guitar Gods” in Rolling Stone
Magazine.
Proceeds from the sale of this
painting and the accompanying limited edition prints will benefit
VH1 – Save The Music Foundation. As budget restraints
are systematically eliminating music programs in public schools,
the VH1 Save The Music Foundation helps develop long-term, sustainable
instrumental music programs that provide children with equal
access to music education regardless of their financial situation.

Legends is the first of three
paintings that will be introduced this year to support VH1 –
Save The Music Foundation.
